MSNBC is the basic cable & Satellite channel owned by the NBC universal group. The channel is the sister of the group of eight others which include CNBC, CNBC World and six others. MSNBC replaced America’s Talking (1994-1996). It primarily covers the news, views, currents affairs & political opinions and debates both in America and Worldwide. The channel’s name was derived from the IT conglomerate Microsoft ‘MS’ and the ‘NBC’ of National Broadcasting Company. The Joint venture between Microsoft & General Electric’s NBC unit (now NBC Universal) concluded in establishing the MSNBC and foundation of msnbc.com in 1996. The site of the MSNBC news with the end in its online partnership was redirected to NBCNews.com in 2012. The political progressivism & opinion programming are highly manifested in the contents and programs. MSNBC was placed 26th in the prime time rating as of june 2014 and 30th in the 24 hour with attracting as much as 597,000 & 336,000 viewers respectively.
