The United Nations (UN) said that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) failed to provide proof of Princess Latifa bint Mohammad Al Maktoum is alive. Furthermore, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights stated that it asked the Emirates for proof of the life of the princess, but they didn’t receive it.
Marta Hurtado, the spokeswoman, told a briefing in Geneva that they have not received any proof of life, and they would like one. One that is clear, convincing evidence that she is alive. Moreover, the foremost concern for them is to be sure of that. Her team tried to set up a meeting among senior officials from both sides, with the new ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations in Geneva.

Mainly, the commission accepted these requests, but they have no fixed date yet. CNN approached the UAE for remarks. In an undisclosed recording obtained by the BBC and shared with CNN in February, Princess Latifa claimed she held hostage in a villa converted into a jail. She has no access to media help. Whereas in response, the royal family of Dubai stated that family and medical professionals cared for Latifa at home.
Princess Shamsa Kidnapping
Hurtado told the news briefing the OHCHR would preferably meet her and talk to her alone to inspect all the aspects of her situation. She adds that’s what they are going to convey in this meeting if it takes place. Additionally, Hurtado said that her office would raise the case of Sheikha Shamsa, the sister of Latifa, to ask about their location.
In late February, Princess Latifa sent a letter to the United Kingdom police, asking them to investigate the suspected kidnapping of Princes Shamsa, her older sister, from Britain in 2000. Hurtado says that they are closely concerned about both cases because they do not know what is happening exactly. That is the reason they are not questioning where they are, but her team wants to meet them and speak with them.
