President Donald Trump has called on states to give up lockdowns as his Democratic rival took the stance that the disease could not be stopped by “flipping a switch”.
In a blitzing campaign schedule in battleground states, Trump also issued a mockery of mask mandates. Biden said Trump’s poor response to COVID was moving America to bottomless pit of woes and in process has also insulted the victims to the deadly disease. The Democrat now leads the Republican days with just 3 days remaining in the November 3 election day. The former VP’s advantage over the President are narrower in a number of states that could go with any side and ultimately decide the outcome new Oval office inmate. What did Biden Say?
The two presidential rivals are divided over the COVID-19 and the spark display of it was once again observed on Wednesday. Speaking from his home in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden said he would not campaign “on the false promises of being able to end this pandemic by flipping a switch”. The Democratic Presidential nominee has also not ruled out further restrictions and instead pledged to “let science driver our decisions”.
“Even if I win, it’s going to take a lot of hard work to end this pandemic,” he said. “I do promise this: We will start on day one doing the right things.”
He also assailed Trump’s efforts to revoke the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, during the pandemic. The former vice-president along with his wife Jill Biden casted early ballots soon afterwards. His rival Trump casted his voter earlier on Saturday in Florida.
Trump: Biden would shut America down
At a rally in Goodyear, AZ, Trump warned that a WH under Biden would result in more lockdowns and economic woes of United States.
“If you vote for Joe Biden it means no kids in school, no graduations, no weddings, no thanksgivings, no Christmas, and no Fourth of July together. Other than that, you’ll have a wonderful life. Can’t see anybody, but that’s alright.”
He described the outcome as “a choice between a Trump super recovery and a Biden depression”. At an earlier event in Bullhead City, AZ, where eased restrictions result in packed crowds, Trump ridiculed mask mandates in states ruled by Democrats.
In other Developments
US Supreme Court on Wednesday in its ruling said that voting officials in North Carolina and Pennsylvania could accept postal ballots for several days after the general election, prompting praise from Democrats who welcomed the decision.
The decision was a validation of the lower court verdicts that allowed the state board of elections to extend the deadline for accepting the mail-in ballots to nine days after the voting day.
Meanwhile, a study conducted by US Center for Responsive Politics projected the total cost of this Presidential elections could hit USD14 billion, twice the budged used in the last one.
